Race Cars for sale

For sale is the love of my life; my 1994 S1 Peugeot 106 XSi Race Car with a 16v conversion.

To be honest, I don't really know if I want to sell her or not, but I feel after a 4 year love affair that it may be time for a change so I'll put the feelers out there and see what's about.

I have a photo diary containing over 350 photographs of the build from start to finish and a folder full of history from before and during my ownership. I have no idea how much money the car owes me; I stopped counting at £3k!

Everything has been built to MSA blue book specification and is definitely not the half arsed effort made by some people to build a 'competition' vehicle!

Technical Specification:

1598cc 16v TU5J4 engine running Catcam 708 high lift camshafts

1.1 S2 gearbox

XSi lightened flywheel and OMP race clutch

2 x Cobra Monaco Bucket Seats mounted to custom made mounts (stronger than original)

2 x 6 point Sparco Harnesses (out of date)

Stripped Interior

6 point bolt in Sparco Roll Cage

Modified pedals to allow better control (standard pedals are very small and very close together!)

Custom made Faulkner 200lb front springs

Rear Torsion Bar lowered to match

Bilstein B6 front dampers

Bilstein B8 rear dampers

Suede OMP Steering Wheel

Custom made Air Intake (by myself) with Oil Catch System

FIA Approved Bonnet Pins

FIA Approved Boot Catches

Uprated Clip-on Gear Linkages

Uprated billet alloy gear shift system

Nissens Alloy Radiator

Standard front calipers and discs with Mintex 1144 Brake Pads

Recently rebuilt rear brakes including new cylinders and shoes

Recent service (100 miles ago)

Teflon lined MSA approved fuel lines running through the car

Mocal braided brake flexi hoses

Most solid brake lines replaced with copper

MSA approved engine cut off (needs adapting to suit the 16v engine)

Ignition barrel and steering lock removed as per regs and replaced with ignition switch and start button

4-2-1 Supersprint Exhaust Manifold into full Stainless Steel Magnex Race Exhaust System

15' Wolfrace Urban Racer 5 alloy wheels with Silverstone moulded slick tyres all round

Lifeline plumbed in 2.25l fire extinguisher system with engine bay and cockpit jets and T pulls (in date)

200g hand held fire bottle mounted on the exhaust tunnel between the two seats

Lexan Polycarbonate windows all round except the windscreen with sliders in the front two windows for ventilation

MSA approved rain light with approved wiring (able to be activated without headlights being on)

Custom made dashboard centre console

Wheel arch liners removed as per MSA regulations

Battery relocated behind passenger seat inside MSA approved fibreglass box

148bhp @ 7200rpm / 125lbs/ft Torque

820kg with 10 litres of fuel onboard

The car which this build was based on is a completely rust free shell with no rear wheel arch problems as is so common with these.

The only piece of welding done to the shell is about a 3' section on the chassis rails which was damaged by a previous owner whilst fitting new seats. The chassis rails are now stronger than they were when they came out of the factory!

Anyone who's had any experience with 16v 106's knows how quick these cars are, as several unsuspecting impreza drivers found out last month at Cadwell Park!

The car did have a front strut brace on it with the old 8v engine, but it doesn't fit with the 16v manifold in the way and I've not got round to buying a 16v one to replace it.

The car has no Tax or MOT as it's been used solely for track work but all it would require to pass an MOT is the road number plates (provided) and road legal tyres. I can MOT it if the buyer wants me to, for the cost of the test on top of the asking price.

Bad bits:

Rev counter doesn't read correctly due to some sort of mismatch between the signal from the ECU and the signal to the rev counter. It doesn't bother me too much as I've learnt to use the speedo as a rev counter!

There is an oil pressure gauge installed in the pod on top of the dashboard but it isn't plumbed in as I've not got round to purchasing the extension required from the oil filter housing to fit in the sender unit (space is tight due to the exhaust!). I've got all the fittings except the extension piping.

The front bumper has a crack in it due to a small excursion at Cadwell Park last month. It's not major damage and nothing else was damaged in the process.

The cut off switch wiring needs modifying to accept the 16v engine as mentioned above.

That's about it I think.

The car is available for viewing strictly by appointment only.

I may be interested in a swap or p/x with cash my way for the right car. Just try me; the worst I can say is no thank you!

I'm asking top dollar for this car because I've spent 4 years and well over £3000 of my hard earned money building it. Everything has been done properly, resulting in a very competitive and strong car.

Any questions, please ask away.
